This is just really just a fancy way to say that we don’t design and build for users. Rather, we design and build hand-in-hand with users. We do this in small chunks called sprints which allows for us as a project team to quickly learn and iterate.

Allison is not your usual Software Engineer leading an App Studio. Rather, she is an Occupational Therapist who uniquely bridges the gap between health and tech with flair and a bit of pizazz.
Allison made the leap from healthcare to award winning health tech entrepreneur in 2017 with her first health tech platform, CareApp. Like 1.3 million other older Australians, her Grandparents needed a little extra support. Her family wanted to be active contributors to their care, but communication was fragmented and visibility about their wellbeing was poor, leading to significant worry, guilt and anxiety for the family. Starting with nothing more than some sketches on a piece of paper, a glass of wine and a strong sense of purpose to build connection and change the narrative in aged care, in 2018 CareApp was born. CareApp is now a multi-award winning and internationally recognised communication and connection platform for care providers.
Following the success of CareApp and with providers recognizing that technology is playing an increasingly greater and more visible role in all aspects of health, care and community services, our team’s unique blend of technical expertise in design and engineering as well as our depth of understanding of health and disability was increasingly sought. The CareApp Studio was created to co-design and create a people first, but technology enabled, future.
CareApp is a communication and connection platform for care providers. In a similar way to how schools and childcare providers use easy-to-use parental communication apps for keeping up to date, CareApp allows care providers to seamlessly provide families with a much needed and sought after personalised and reassuring window into the care and wellbeing of their loved ones.
CareApp allows aged care providers to record and share photos, video/audio, documents, and links as well as notices, events, and newsletters. It also enables live video chat between customers, care teams and families and to create memorial videos as a beautiful way to remember valued customers.
Today, CareApp is a nationally-awarded and internationally recognised communication and connection platform bringing together over hundreds of providers throughout Australia and tens of thousands of customers, carers, family and friends.

After a competitive selection process, CareApp Studio were engaged by Parkinson’s Australia as the design and development partner for the Young Onset Parkinson’s Exchange (YOPX).
As the design and development partner for this project CareApp Studio worked in partnership with with Parkinson’s SA CEO Olivia Nassaris, Project Manager, Katie Hawtin, SAHMRI and Flinders University to launch the Young Onset Parkinson’s Exchange (YOP-X).

An NDIS Wallet was also created. A first for an App of this kind. The wallet houses all of the information from the questionnaire, advises what needs to be completed, and also facilitates other tasks like goal recording.
